The Reggae Boyz started their quarter-final match-up as clear favourites against Guatemala. However, the much favoured Jamaican team started the first half slowly as they failed to establish any sort of dominance against a well-organized Guatemalan side.

Guatemala showed why they deserved their place in the quarters as they kept the Reggae Boyz at bay with some valiant defending. Jamaican defender Bernard had the best chance of the first half after picking up a ball in the box and firing a powerful shot, only to see it blocked by a diving Guatemalan defender.

Jamaica’s much-talked-about front three did not create any real chemistry between themselves. Gutamanlan defenders did not do the Reggae Boyz any favour and looked the best side for much of the first half, which ended 0-0.

Unlike the first half, the Reggae Boyz started the second half on the right foot after Demari Gray picked out an intricate pass to find an unmarked Bell, who timed his run perfectly and then held his composure to beat the Guatemalan keeper at his near post.

Jamaica took over the game following their 51st-minute opener, and Guatemala was left to feed off scraps.

Jamiaca probed for a second with multiple attacks, but to avail, Demari Gray was Jamaica’s most dangerous player by creating numerous opportunities for his teammates throughout the entire ninety minutes, and his brilliant assist proved to be the difference as Jamaica won 1-0.
